Senior Quantity Surveyor

Thames Valley (Beaconsfield)

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor who excels at contract negotiation and value engineering?

Shanly Homes - the privately-owned, award-winning regional housebuilder - is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Thames Valley region and be part of a successful team developing bespoke, high-end properties in and around the Thames Valley and Southern Home Counties.

What you'll be doing:

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:

  • Place contracts for all relevant elements of subcontractor work on our developments-

    - Prepare subcontract enquiries, send out for pricing and ensure that contracts are placed in line with the build programme

    - Produce a detailed trade specific scope of works and qualification notes for all enquiry documentation

    - Analyse subcontractor quotes and form a recommendation on who to appoint

    - Ensure standard terms and conditions are agreed with all orders/contracts placed
  • Manage subcontractor payments

    - Process stage payments to subcontractors when due

    - Ensure all contra charges are managed

    - Carry out checks for UTR status of subcontractors

    - Review and process variations in accordance with terms and conditions
  • Work in partnership with other teams to ensure key dates for the build programme are achieved

    - Check drawings to ensure the proposals are practical and commercially viable

    - Regularly attend project meetings on site

    - Provide cost advice for the sales team
  • Produce regular reporting

    - Compile full cost reports for each development, to include services, materials, sub-contract and prelim costs

About you

  • Strong experience in a similar surveying role within a residential house builder
  • Excellent numerical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Great team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Organised and able to work well in a busy team
