Things to do in Watford this Father’s Day

We'll always remember when our dad taught us how to ride a bike, the many Friday nights they spent being our taxi and all the other acts of kindness they have contributed to our lives over the years. The day to celebrate, or remember fondly, our dads is fast approaching. Here are some activities for all ages and group sizes that you can enjoy in Watford this Father's Day:

Take a family stroll in one of Watford's many beautiful nature parks

Cassiobury Park has recently been voted one of the top 10 parks in the UK. This historic park is a Green Flag award-winning beauty spot and includes state of the art paddling pools and a booming bandstand. For more tranquillity, explore Watford's 'best kept secret', Cheslyn House & Gardens, which provides a myriad of green herbaceous borders, along with ponds and aviaries. Oxhey Woods is another of Watford's Nature Reserves, containing over 100 hectares of woodland waiting to be explored.

Go for a pub lunch

Enjoy a delicious Sunday roast this Father's Day at one of the many family friendly pubs Watford has to offer. Why not drive to nearby village Flaunden and visit the 5-time awarding-winning pub, Bricklayers Arms? Its nearby country walks over the rolling hills of the Chess Valley, paired with the cosy atmosphere inside the rustic gastro pub, make it extra special. Even better, devour mouth-watering meals cooked by Michelin trained Chef Claude Paillet.

Experience Watford's arts and culture

Visit one of Watford's Theatres, The Pump House, Watford Colosseum and Watford Palace Theatre, to enjoy everything from a West-End performance to a stand-up comedy act. Delve into the history of Watford at the museum, a former brewery building full of memorabilia and archives of life in the town over the years. If your father is a film fanatic, whirl into the world of wizardry and explore multi-awarding winning attraction, Warner Bros. Studio Tour, just 15 minutes away.

Watford Football Club

If your father or partner loves football, go to a Watford FC home game and revel in the lively atmosphere in the stands at the Sir Elton John stadium. If a first-class hospitality experience is more your cup of tea, enjoy watching the football whilst relaxing, eating and drinking in The Gallery, the most exclusive lounge at Vicarage Road.

We hope we've given you some useful ideas to say thank you to your dad this Father's Day. After a family day out, why not enjoy a visit to our gorgeous show home at Compass Fields?
