River Walk

There is a plethora of dining experiences to suit all budgets near River Walk. For a quick bite with the kids, Pizza Express is just minutes away from River Walk, whilst modern European restaurant, wine and cocktail bar, Verdigris, is perfect for an evening out with friends. In Tonbridge you will also be able to suit all palettes with an eclectic mix of cuisines on offer including Turkish, Thai, Italian, Korean barbeque, Japanese sushi, Mexican, as well as traditional British fayre, and steakhouses. 

For a quick fix there is a good range of cafes, 65mm Coffee, Jel's Cafe, Basil, and for fast food, a Wimpy. 

A visit to Tonbridge Castle, a stone's throw from River Walk, is a must - steeped in history and, reputedly one of the finest examples of a Norman motte and bailey castle. Nature lovers will enjoy Haysden Country Park’s fishing pond and sailing lake, and Hop Farm is great for kids, with an adventure play area and animal farm. Regional Cycle Route 12 runs between Tonbridge Castle and Penshurst Place, or experience the Eden Valley Walk, providing beautiful views of parkland, woodland and open fields, as well as some of the county’s most architecturally interesting historic castles and houses. For the sporting, Tonbridge Golf Centre is just a mile away, whilst Poult Wood is 3 miles away offering a 9 and 18 hole course. Tonbridge Swimming Pool is under a mile away and has a 25 metre indoor fitness pool, heated outdoor pool, teaching and toddler pools, and for gym enthusiasts, the Angel Centre is a walkable half a mile. 

Tonbridge Station is approximately a 14 minute walk from River Walk and offers regular direct trains to London Bridge from 31 minutes, London Charing Cross is also a direct route and can be reached in just 43 minutes. Sevenoaks can be reached in 9 minutes, and Maidstone West in 27 minutes. 

The historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells can be reached in 20 minutes by car, Maidstone in 31 minutes, London Gatwick Airport in just 35, and the seaside town of Hastings in approximately 50 minutes. The M26 is just over 11 miles away and connects the M25 and M20 opening up the wider road network. 

For budget travel around Tonbridge, the local buses run through the High Street and are approximately a minute's walk away. 

The local schools really are on your doorstep at River Walk. Sussex Road Community Primary is under half a mile away and was rated Good by Ofsted in November 2021. Independent Tonbridge School, ranked sixth best independent senior school in the country*, for boys aged 11-18 is also under half a mile away. The Judd secondary school for boys, also under half a mile way, was rated Good by Ofsted in May 2015. Tonbridge Grammar School for girls aged 11-18 years was rated Good by Ofsted in October 2019 and is just over half a mile away. There are a further two primary schools and two secondary schools, all rated Good by Ofsted, and two independent schools all less than a mile from River Walk.
