Pupils of Turners Hill Church of England Primary School can now get to school much more safely thanks to a new road crossing built by Shanly Homes. After completing work on the new Clock Field development on North Street, Shanly Homes constructed the crossing to make it easier for members of the community to safely cross the busy road. The new pelican crossing provides a safe route for those crossing at North Street.
Speaking of the benefit to the school, Rob Hurst, whose children attend Turners Hill School, said: "The new crossing on North Street makes the school run much easier as we no longer have to wait ages for a break in the relentless traffic on a road with very poor visibility. It also seems to have had a positive impact on the speed of traffic on the road, making it much safer for everyone in the village to get around."
Parents and pupils at Turners Hill have been able to watch the new development come to life since building commenced back in March. Earlier this year students from the school were taken into the development on a hard hat tour to see the diggers in action and see the steps Shanly Homes take to limit disturbance to the local neighbourhood during the building process. Dedicated to building high-specification, sustainable and innovative homes which complement the local environment Shanly Homes aims to improve the quality of life for those living in the community.
Jo McDonagh, sales director at Shanly Homes comments: "Our commitment to creating the best possible living environment does not stop at the design and build of our homes, we place a great deal of emphasis on the wider environment. We hope that by developing this crossing it will enable the children and members of the community to safely get around whilst encouraging road safety."
