Potters Place case study

First time buyers find perfect commuter home

For Ashish Srivastav (33) and Surbhi Khare (30), finding a spacious new home near a well-connected train station was a dream come true. With Ashish travelling across the country in his role as a Sales Director for Hexaware Technology and Surbhi travelling to Canary Wharf for her job as a software engineer for Citibank, the couple were determined to have a train station close by. Positioned in the heart of the Sussex town of Haywards Heath, Potters Place by Shanly Homes is a collection of 9 three and four-bedroom houses, located within easy walking distance to Haywards Heath train station.

Haywards Heath attributes much of its growth to the railway in the area. Today, the area is a thriving residential town with a wide range of amenities on the doorstep. Ashish comments: "We really love the local area surrounding Potters Place. Our home enjoys close proximity to a selection of lovely green spaces, where we can head out for a walk. Brighton is also only 15-minutes away on the train, which is ideal for us as we enjoy day trips to the beach."

Surbhi continues: "We have a large variety of supermarkets and shops on offer nearby, including Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's and Tesco Express, which is really convenient. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton, walking and running. There are lots of excellent gyms and swimming pools nearby that I am hoping to join soon. We have also researched the local primary schools in Haywards Heath for our future family plans, and were impressed to see lots of schools such as Bolnore Village Primary School and Warden Park Primary Academy were receiving 'good' ratings from Ofsted."

Reflecting on why they chose to purchase a three-bedroom semi-detached home at Potters Place, Surbhi explains: "The design of the home is lovely. We were really happy that there is a separate kitchen and living room, as we didn't want an open plan layout, which many other new builds have. The property also came complete with high quality fixtures and fittings included in the asking price, which meant that the house was ready to move into and live in without hassle."

The couple had previously been renting in Eastbourne, but wanted to move closer to the capital to make commuting much easier. Surbhi explains: "Before COVID I was office-based, and even though things are much more flexible now, I still travel up to Canary Wharf once a week. Haywards Heath train station is around a 15-minute walk away, and provides direct services to London Bridge from which I can take the Jubilee line across to Canary Wharf. From Eastbourne, my commute was around 1 hour and 45 minutes, but now I can get to work in just under an hour."

Ashish continues: "Although my job is home-based, I frequently travel around the country to meet clients and customers. I like to take the train so that I can make the most of my commute by working, so it was really important to me that we moved somewhere with a well-connected train station. Haywards Heath offers direct services to destinations including London Victoria, Cambridge, Brighton and Bedford which is ideal for me."

Commenting on their purchasing experience with Shanly Homes, Ashish comments: "We were able to save up quite a bit while we were renting, which meant that we had a good amount to put down as a deposit, giving us a few options. As the houses at Potters Place were already constructed, we were able to fully view the property for ourselves and imagine what we could do with the space. Other new builds were only available off plan, and it is always hard to get a real idea of a space from a floorplan, so we were really lucky. Throughout the process, Norma in the Sales team was really helpful, answering any questions that we had which took a lot of stress out of the process."

Potters Place is a stunning collection of 9 three and four-bedroom located just moments away from Haywards Heath town centre. All homes feature spacious kitchens complete with a range of integrated appliances, and beautiful composite-stone worksurfaces. Generous living/dining areas open out on a private and secure garden, ideal for families with children.

Perfectly located within easy access of a range of essential amenities, Potters Place is located within a short drive of Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Sainsbury's. With a plethora of parks in the local area, there is plenty of opportunity to explore and unwind in nearby. Located just a mile away from Haywards Heath train station, commuters are well-placed to enjoy excellent transport connections.
