Cobham has a long and fascinating history, with the village appearing in the Domesday Book and its roots stretching back much further. The area developed around the River Mole and the historic parish church of St Andrew, whose Norman tower remains one of the town’s most notable landmarks. Cobham Mill, a beautifully restored watermill on the River Mole, also offers a glimpse into the area’s industrial past and is open to visitors at selected times of the year.

The area is also particularly well placed for some of Surrey’s best-known attractions. Painshill, with its 18th-century landscape, lake, grotto and architectural follies, is on Cobham’s doorstep, while RHS Garden Wisley is just a short distance away and covers around 240 acres. For those with an interest in motoring and aviation, Brooklands Museum and Mercedes-Benz World are also nearby in Weybridge, with Brooklands recognised as a landmark in the history of British motorsport and aviation.

Cobham is also well regarded for its selection of schools and family amenities, with a number of well-established primary and independent schools in and around the area. Its location provides an attractive balance between village life and access to larger centres, with Kingston upon Thames, Guildford and Weybridge all within easy reach. With London approximately 17 miles away, Cobham has long appealed to those looking for a more relaxed setting without losing convenient access to the capital.
