Cameo nominated by Old Halliford Place purchaser to receive charity donation

This month's winner of Shanly Group's final monthly charity prize draw is Amy Berry, who has recently purchased a one-bedroom apartment at Shanly Homes' Old Halliford Place development in Shepperton. Amy nominated Cameo, a local charity which helps elderly people with dementia.

Since the charity prize draw began in January, Shanly Group has donated a total of £30,000 on behalf of customers and tenants to a number of charities.

Cameo is a small charity run by 15 staff, operating out of the Greeno Day Centre in Shepperton. Established 30 years ago, Cameo provides daily support to local people suffering from dementia, helping approximately 100 clients a week. The charity offers morning services with tea, coffee and back-to-back activities, followed by a two-course lunch. Afternoon sessions involve more relaxed activities with entertainment. The organisation also operates a café for the carers, providing a welcoming setting for people whose family members have faced dementia. Twice a year, the charity hosts breakfasts for the carers, offering them an opportunity to share their experiences.

Amy Berry, buyer at Old Halliford Place, said:"My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's three years ago, so I know how challenging this illness is first-hand. She regularly goes to the local community centre, where Cameo runs its daily sessions with quizzes and arts and crafts to get the memory going again. Nominating Cameo was a no-brainer for me having seen how hard they work to help older people. I hope the donation will enable them to continue providing stimulating activities for the elderly, helping them improve their quality of life."

Tamra Booth, Operations Director at the Shanly Group, said: "We are pleased that Ms. Berry has chosen to support such a worthy cause. Charities like Cameo play a huge role in ensuring some of the most vulnerable members of the community are supported. We hope the donation will help the charity continue making a difference to the lives of people with dementia and their families."

Annette Pointon, Managerat Cameo, said:"We are very grateful for this generous donation. These funds will help us provide a wider range of stimulating activities to our clients, which can make a dramatic difference to their wellbeing. Part of the sum will go towards the organisation of social events for the carers, who rely on our charity for emotional support."
